課程概述

This course aims to introduce students the fundamental concepts of management strategies and techniques. This course assists students to learn various management practices and how such practices might impact on the operation of organizations in the global marketplace. Topics of the course include evolution of management thought, leadership, human resource management and organizational culture.

 On completion of this course a student should be able to:
1.Understand the concept of management
2.Acquire knowledge of various management strategies and techniques
3.Understand the role of organization management to maintain competitiveness in the global marketplace

 Group Case Study Presentation 
30% 
 Students will form a group of 5 and work on 20- minute case study presentation. Your group will choose a company and analyze the management issues that are discussed in the class. Students can find examples of companies and relevant issues in the case studies at the end of each chapter in the text book. Students are expected to cover the following points in their group presentation: 1. Company background information 2. Focus of the presentation (e.g. leadership, ethics and social responsibility or managing organization culture) 3. Identify the problems that the company faces and the solutions/outcomes
